First Works

These are a couple of my first works with a wood lathe. My first work was a salt and pepper shaker set that I made from a mulberry tree I cut down for a friend that was having land cleared for a future house. I also made a set out of a walnut tree from the same property. These are some vases that I have been working on. The wood is walnut and mulberry. The wood came from the same property as the wood for the shakers. I put a water tube down the center of the taller vases so the flowers last longer. The smaller vases are sealed on the inside so the water will not damage the wood.
