OH MY WORD!!!! What a night. I went hunting yesterday. As soon as I sat down in my stand, I looked to my left and saw a deer that had just come out of the trees. It was a young one so I sat there and watched it eat and mosey around. Then, it was so comfortable, it bedded down next to a tree and watched. A little later, a big buck came out on the hill at the back of the property. It milled a couple of minutes and went into the trees. I also saw a red fox go hopping through. Those things a so fun to watch. They don't walk like a dog. They kinda hop as they walk. It was so cute. Well, the young one got up and started milling again. It started to come towards me so I was interested again. It was getting late and it was putting itself into a position for me to have a shot. There is a tee pee made of tree trunks between me and the grape vines and the deer was on the other side of the tee pee. I was able to stalk to within about 25 yards of the deer and it never saw me. I got my bow ready and fired a shot. DDOOOOOOOO! It was closer than I thought. The arrow sailed right over its back. The deer heard my string release the arrow and moved about 15 feet and stopped. It had no idea I was there. THEN, the big buck came out to stand in the same spot as the young one. The young one gave way. I was standing in the open and neither deer new I was there. The wind was right and it was now dark. I tried to find my arrow but a doe that I didn't see was in the trees and she started blowing. That is a very startling sound when you aren't expecting it. I left my arrow and will retrieve it today in the light. It was an amazing night. Even though I did not harvest a deer, it was still a great time in the field. TTFN

Friendly Visitor

Well, I had an unexpected guest today. In fact, two of them. They came in through my wood burners chimney. All I had to do was open the door of the stove and they flew out. Then I opened a window and they flew back outside.

Ok, here is the update

Evening

Wow, another beautiful afternoon/evening. I was in the stand after picking grape to make grape juice. There was a farmer out getting his bales of hay so I figured no deer would come from that side of the orchard. Sure enough, they didn't. I saw three deer walking the trail at the rear of the property. And that is where they stayed. But it was still a great evening. Lots of cardinal and other birds flying around. Even a flock of geese came in and landing in the field. Boy they sure are noisy. Well, until next time; TTFN

The feelings of fall

Well, fall is here. The smells, the sights and the deer. Archery season opened on the 1st and I was able to get out this past Saturday afternoon. It was a beautiful afternoon. The weather was great. Right around sunset, a little four-pointer came out and milled around the apple trees but was too far away to even attempt a shot. He was fun to watch all the same. And then tonight I was able to get out again. Same hunting spot with better results. Again, right around sunset, I saw a deer on the other side of the field and that is where it stayed. With about ten minutes left to shoot, three came out within range. I was able to draw on one but when I went to tough the release, it was too far from my finger. I let off and was just ready to draw again when something behind two of them jumped them and they ran towards me and into the pine trees out of sight. So, two hunts and both times, deer were spotted. It is a long season and with luck, a big boy will step out looking for a little love and that will be his demise. Until next time; TTFN

I was asked to put this back up with the frame job. My brother in law Duane made the frame and my sister Shari matted it for me. They did an excellent job with it. It all turned out very nicely.

PIX

Here it is.
Hello again. I have started another stitching project. This one is for me. It has a lot of earth tones to it which makes the other color really stand out. I have been working on it for about four weeks and it is coming along rather nicely. TTFN

FINALLY. I have a computer. Now I can show my picture of my latest cross stitch. I finished Tweety for my tweety wife.

Also, it has been a fun summer for riding. Tina and I just took a trip to Michigan. It was a 400 mile round trip ride. It was a little too much for her but we both had fun. It was pretty riding. The tempeture was great.

Well, until next time.

Purple Haze

Here is my new bike. I got it so I can save of gas going back and forth to work. Plus it is a lot of fun to ride. The color is a plus also. I will give my sister a ride this summer is she is daring.

More Stitching

Well, I am finally back. Although not all the way. My computer went off the deep end and I am building a new one. I am uploading my autism stitching. It turned out very nicely. And it fits in a standard frame.

Well, it has been an eventful last few weeks. I started and finished an autism crossstitch. It is framed and waiting on a pic to put on here. I have also started a new project. It is of Tweety. I am doing it for my wife as she is a Tweety fan. I love the colors in it. I am doing it on 14 count Jazz. I love the tye dye effect of this material. It really brings out the colors in the project. I have also been putting a lot of miles on my new Purple Haze. I will post a picture as soon as I get one. Watch out Peter Fonda.

Well, it is finally done. It took longer than I thought. I am satisfied with it though. I think the next thing I do will be smaller.

Well, now we will see how often people look at this site of mine. We just picked up this girl yesterday from the shelter. She is a Boston Terrior mix. She doesn't bark of growl. She does snort and snore though. She slept all night in her new kennel with out any trouble. Not a word. She seems to be a very good pound puppy.

A New Day

Well, I finally did it. I finally got a deer. I am using a damage control permit and tonight was the night. I went by myself and just before sunset, five deer came out and I was able to stop them before they got into the trees. I set my sights on the largest one and let it fly. One shot and one deer. She did not suffer in the least. The others ran off to challenge me another day. Backstraps for all.

update

This is the latest update for Peter Pan. Enjoy

Thursday, January 10, 2008

OK, this is my second project that I am working on right now. It will be a picture of Peter Pan, Tink, and the three kids flying in to Peter. I know I dropped a stitch in her hair, but I am still proud of it. The arm looks goofy though. Maybe as I get more experience, I will be able to work around it and create my own configuration. Thanks for looking and I thank for any comments.

OK. This is something totally new for me. This is my very first project. I stitched it onto my denim jacket and had to use all six strands of floss. The pattern I used had a couple of errors in it but you will never see them here. I covered well. I was unable to get the waste canvas out though. So I cut it off short as I could and left it at that. By the way, this post if for my sister, who had now idea I was doing this.
